Me and The Echoes of This Barren Well

Me and The Echoes of This Barren Well

Me and The Echoes of This Barren Well explores the feelings of feeling trapped in one’s self, not knowing where to go and having no one to express yourself to.

Me and The Echoes of This Barren Well – Revised 10/10/26

I know I should just shut up but I can't
even though I've come to realize that speaking to you is like speaking to a well I thought held magic
but found out there was none

I know I should just be quiet because
every word I say spirals downward
without reaching the bottom
because there is no bottom

there is no magic to grab hold of my words and seal them with a kiss
for them to explode into uncontrollable happiness
everything travels downwards
not reaching an end
not finding a resolution

just echoes repeating every want and dreams back to me
as if to tell me to listen
just ssh

listen to the words you speak that will never come to fruition
words that you can only dream of becoming tangible
to touch, to hold, and to finally feel the warmth of what it feels like to find yourself
to know yourself

to finally experience a tiny bit of the world
you keep wrapped in a tight cloth
sealed behind a frame only to be looked upon
as if your whole life were a museum to be only viewed and admired but never lived

yet I keep speaking into this well
even though I don’t expect a thing
I wish I could expect something

hoping maybe someday
all the words I have spoken had secretly gathered at the bottom
forming one big ball that will explode
and shatter the glass encasing my life

who knows?
maybe this well could finally grant a wish
I had whispered in the moments my pain over took my body
and encompassed me in a blanket of dread and despair
a wish to finally shed some warmth on me

but this well lays bare
yet I keep coming back to whisper these words of mine
I so desperately want to be heard

but there is no magic
there is no happiness waiting for me
just me and the echoes of this barren well
